DUI Drill Raises Awareness Ahead of Proms
First responders staged a mock DUI accident scene on Friday to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking, drugs and texting while driving.
MIAMI, FL — With prom season upon the Miami area, first responders staged a mock DUI accident scene on Friday to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking, drugs and texting while driving. Student volunteers dressed in prom dresses as classmates looked on. The event was held at Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
This was the fifth year of the event, according to Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue, who said the event has been attended by more than 5,000 students, school administrators, elected officials and first responders over the years. Friday's event was sponsored by Urban Partnership of Miami Dade County Coalition (Hosanna Community Foundation-fiscal agency-SAMHSA) and City of Miami Fire/Police Departments.
