Evictions To Resume In ‘Limited Cases’ In Miami-Dade County
The county's eviction moratorium remains in place for cases filed in court after March 12.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — Evictions will resume in "limited cases" in Miami-Dade County after Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez directed Miami-Dade police to resume enforcement of writs of possession in all cases filed on or before March 12, the county announced in a news release.
March 12 was the date the mayor declared a state of emergency for Miami-Dade County at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cases filed after March 12 will not be affected by this order.
Gimenez ordered that eviction cases should move forward “after a thorough review to ensure a policy that’s fair to both tenants and property owners,” the release said.

The limited resumption of evictions will be subject to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention agency order, which provides federal eviction relief until December 31, 2020, to eligible persons. View a copy of the CDC order here.
This also follows the expiration of the state’s eviction moratorium, Governor Ron DeSantis’s Executive Order No. 20-211, on Oct. 1.
