'No Danger' After FIU Calls For Evacuation From MMC Campus

The campus was evacuated due to fears of a "dangerous situation," the school announced in a Tuesday morning tweet.

MIAMI, FL — Authorities now believe they received a false call after Florida International University's Modesto A. Maidique Campus called for an immediate evacuation Tuesday morning due to fears of "a dangerous situation" occurring "on or near campus," the university announced in a tweet at 9:26 a.m.

Minutes later, at 9:40 a.m., the university announced in an update tweet that FIU Police had received reports of an active shooter in Academic Health Center 3. The school said the building had been cleared and a "methodical search" was in progress.

According to the update, the call appears to have been false and there is no danger to anyone on campus.
