FL Among Least Patriotic States In U.S., Study Says

The Sunshine State is among the least patriotic U.S. states, a new analysis that looks at military and civic engagement said.

FLORIDA — The Sunshine State is among the least patriotic states in the country, according to a new study from WalletHub.

Florida ranked at No. 46 on the list out of all 50 states.

The study by the personal finance site compared states across key indicators of patriotism, both military and civic engagement. This included the number of each state’s military enlistees and veterans, the number of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election, and the number of AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.

Florida had a total score of 32.91, while Virginia topped the list at No. 1 with a total score of 61.01.

  • No. 2 - Montana (59.63 total score)
  • No. 3 - Alaska (57.98)
  • No. 4 - North Dakota (56.33)
  • No. 5 - Maine (56.08)

Compared to other states, Florida also had the lowest volunteer rate at 15.90 percent, WalletHub said. It ranked second to last for civic engagement among all states.
