Fort Lauderdale Officer Dies From COVID-19: Police

Officer Jennifer Sepot, 27, died from COVID-19 on Saturday, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — A 27-year-old Fort Lauderdale police officer died from COVID-19 on Saturday.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department announced the death of Officer Jennifer Sepot on social media.

Sepot “contracted COVID-19 and experienced complications related to the virus,” the agency shared on its Facebook page.

She began working with FLPD April 18, 2017, and was assigned to the road patrol division.

Sepot is survived by her husband and child, the agency said.

Detective Brandon Diaz, the police union president, told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that she was exposed to COVID-19 on the job and tested positive. She got worse and was brought to the hospital Friday night.
