Hammer Attack Suspect Arrested After Miami Beach Attack: Reports

Jaime Vega threw a bicycle at a man and hit him with a hammer in Miami Beach on Sunday, reports said.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A man has been arrested in the hammer attack of another man in Miami Beach on Sunday, CBS Miami reported.

A surveillance camera caught the attack, which took place in the 7400 block of Beach Service Road, on video.

In the video, a man wearing an orange sweatshirt, whom police say is 34-year-old Jaime Vega, picks up a bicycle and throws it at another man, who is sitting on a different bicycle. Then, he picks up a hammer and hits the victim with it. He snatches the victim’s gold chain before another man pulls him off, reports said.

Vega has been charged with armed robbery and battery, reports said. The victim is recovering from the attack.
