Imagine Your Name on a Miami Beach Park Bench
The city unveiled an Adopt-a-Bench program.
MIAMI BEACH — If you grew up on Miami Beach, spent your weekends there or simply love visiting this urban seaside resort, you may want to have your name immortalized on a park bench, at least for the next decade or so.
If nothing else, you'll have your own spot already scoped out when the clubs close.

The city unveiled its Adopt-A-Bench Program on Thursday modeled after a similar program in New York.
“We modeled this initiative after the very successful bench program in New York City’s Central Park," explained Miami Beach Commissioner Kristin Rosen Gonzalez. "Not only will our bench program be a wonderful way to memorialize a loved one, but money generated by this program will pay for park enhancements.”

The program is so new that officials haven't yet settled on a pricing structure. But donors will be given the option of adopting an existing park bench or proposing the location of a new one.
Donors will also be given the option of picking out the design, color, material and inscription for each plaque, according to city officials.
Each plaque will remain on benches for a minimum of 10 years.
For more information on the Adopt-A-Bench Program, donors can contact Miami Beach Parks and Recreation at 305.673.7730, extension 6579.
