The Miami Marlins are not commenting on a report that team owner Jeffrey Loria has agreed to sell the Fish for $1.2 billion.

MIAMI, FL — The Miami Marlins are not commenting on a report in the Miami Herald on Friday afternoon that team owner Jeffrey Loria has agreed to sell the Fish for $1.2 billion. The report said that the team will be led by wealthy New York businessman Bruce Sherman and Yankee legend Derek Jeter. The Marlins are in second place in the National League East with a record of 53 wins and 60 losses.

The Marlins were scheduled to take on the Colorado Rockies on Friday night at 7:10 p.m. in Miami.

Quoting a New-York based Major League Baseball source, the Herald said that the MLB was expecting to receive the written sales agreement on Friday.

There have been persistent sales rumors around the team for months.

In February, Forbes magazine reported that Loria had reached a "handshake" agreement to sell the team for $1.6 billion while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was also said to be in the hunt for a time.
