Miami Fire Stations Accept Puerto Rico Donations

If you're looking for a way to help hurricane victims in Puerto Rico, look no further than your closest Miami Rescue Fire Station.

MIAMI, FL — If you're looking for a way to help hurricane victims in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, you need look no further than your closest Miami Fire Rescue station. All stations will be accepting donations between now and Halloween. Water, food, medical supplies, pet food, generators and other donated supplies will be picked up twice a week by Global Empowerment Mission.

Under the program, which is called “Miami Cares,” Global Empowerment Mission will deliver the goods to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean using privately donated cargo plains.

“The people in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean experienced devastation beyond our imagination.” said Michael Capponi, Founder of Global Empowerment Mission. “No amount of help is too small, and I urge the community to get involved as soon as possible.”

All city of Miami fire stations will be accepting the relief items from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

“The city of Miami Department of Fire Rescue has a long and proud tradition of working to provide assistance to our community and others in times of need," explained Fire Chief Joseph Zahralban. "From past disasters such as the devastating earthquake in Haiti, hurricane relief in Louisiana and Mississippi after Katrina, to assisting our own community with hurricane’s Wilma, Rita and Katrina, the city of Miami Department of Fire Rescue is once again honored to be helping others in need.”
