Miami Jackson Senior High School Honors Class of 2020

M-DCPS and Miami Jackson Senior High School honor the Class of 2020 to coincide with the school's virtual graduation on June 15.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami Jackson Senior High School are honoring the Class of 2020 to coincide with the school's virtual graduation on June 15.

The school is highlighting two students below who represent the achievements of the entire graduating class.

Christian Acosta

Christian Acosta is graduating within the top 10% of Miami Jackson's Class of 2020. Although he has faced several challenges, Acosta manages to excel academically maintaining a weighted GPA of 4.06. Christian is a huge asset to Miami Jackson's Math Department where he serves as an Executive Intern. Also, he volunteers his time after school to tutor students in mathematics. Upon graduation, Acosta plans to enlist in The United States Marines.


Giselle Rosales

Giselle Rosales is receiving $473,000 in scholarships from Florida State University. She has a weighted grade point average of 4.6. For three years, she has been a part of the distinguished National Academy Foundation (NAF) Academy of International Business and Finance Magnet Program (AIBF) and Future Business Leaders of America (F.B.L.A.) and has won numerous awards.

In addition, she completed all her NAF requirements to become NAFTrack certified by completing four business classes, a summer internship, and certain certifications like Dreamweaver and Quickbooks. Giselle has completed over 300 hours of community service.

In an effort to ensure that the Class of 2020 graduates at Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) receive the pomp and circumstance they deserve, the District is holding virtual graduation ceremonies for each high school. The live streaming of each virtual graduation, as well as a schedule of ceremonies and a video archive can be accessed by visiting Classof2020.dadeschools.net. The ceremonies are also televised on WLRN Channel 17.

The virtual commencement ceremonies will be followed by an in-person Class of 2020 celebration at each high school either in the summer or winter, once it is safe to do so under public health guidelines.

In addition to the virtual ceremonies, the District has launched a marketing campaign to highlight outstanding seniors, and invite the community to celebrate graduates on social media using the following hashtags: #MDCPSGrad, #Classof2020, #MeetMDCPSGrads and #SeniorSpotlight.
