Miami Man Tracks Ex-Girlfriend To Gas Station, Opens Fire: Police

MIAMI, FLA. — A 23-year-old Miami man has been charged with two counts of premeditated attempted murder after police said that he opened fire on a vehicle his ex-girlfriend was inside of, injuring her and the man with she was at a local gas station on Wednesday night, police said Thursday.

Jonathan Clemente was arrested and charged after the incident, which took place at 11:05 p.m. on Wednesday night. Police were originally called for reports of shots fired, arrived at a specified location but found no victims, police said on Thursday. But officers arrived at a nearby gas station where they found two people inside a car with gunshot wounds.

According to the criminal complaint, Clemente was able to track the vehicle to the gas station where he found a woman who police said is his ex-girlfriend. The complaint that the woman and man she was with are in a new relationship and after seeing the couple pull up to the gas station, Clemente opened fire on the car with a semiautomatic handgun, police said.

Police said Clemente then left the scene and called 911 and said he had been involved in a shooting. The dispatcher told him to stay where he was, which led to his arrest. In addition to the attempted murder charges, Clemente was also charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Police recovered the gun in Clemente’s vehicle, police said.

The two shooting victims were taken to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where the male, age 30, victim is in extremely critical condition after he was shot in the head. The female, 23, is in stable condition, police said, and identified Clemente as the shooter in the incident.
