Miami Norland Senior High School Honors Class of 2020
M-DCPS and Miami Norland Senior High School honor the Class of 2020 to coincide with the school's virtual graduation on June 8.

MIAMI GARDENS, FL — Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami Norland Senior High School are honoring the Class of 2020 to coincide with the school's virtual graduation on June 8.
The school is highlighting three students below who represent the achievements of the entire graduating class.

Chanadra Johnson
Chanadra Johnson loves choices. That is why she currently enjoys having been accepted into more than 20 schools. This is all thanks to her 4.0 weighted GPA plus her dedication to the community, with 692 Community Service Hours.

Tehannah Matthew

Tehannah Matthew is an extremely determined, focused and confident student. She has a 4.8 GPA, graduating in the top 5% of her class, and has been a part of many of extracurricular clubs and activities. All of this, while she has had to help her mother with a health battle since Tehannah was in the 10th grade.
Tehannah is motivated and inspired by her community. She dedicates many hours to community service projects because she loves to see everyone working together to create a positive change. She is a Silver Knight nominee and a National Honor Society member, who has been accepted to over 20 universities.
Darrelle Young
For the past 4 years, Darrelle Young has been a part of the National Honor Society, Viking Freedom Writers Club, HIP, and the African American Heritage Club. He has also dedicated countless volunteer hours, over 1000, to community service projects.
Although he suffered complications due to losing his mother, when he was young, dealing with bullying, depression, and anxiety; he persevered.
Darrelle has a 4.3 GPA and he will be graduating in the top 5% of his class thanks to countless extracurricular activities and his more than 1000 volunteer hours on community service projects.
In an effort to ensure that the Class of 2020 graduates at Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) receive the pomp and circumstance they deserve, the District is holding virtual graduation ceremonies for each high school. The live streaming of each virtual graduation, as well as a schedule of ceremonies and a video archive can be accessed by visiting Classof2020.dadeschools.net. The ceremonies are also televised on WLRN Channel 17.
The virtual commencement ceremonies will be followed by an in-person Class of 2020 celebration at each high school either in the summer or winter, once it is safe to do so under public health guidelines.
In addition to the virtual ceremonies, the District has launched a marketing campaign to highlight outstanding seniors, and invite the community to celebrate graduates on social media using the following hashtags: #MDCPSGrad, #Classof2020, #MeetMDCPSGrads and #SeniorSpotlight.
