Miami Police Now Hiring

The city is looking for 2,000 applicants

MIAMI — Do you like working with the public? Are you willing to put your life on the line for others? The city of Miami Police Department wants to hear from you if you've ever considered a career in law enforcement.

"Come join our team and make a difference," beckoned Miami Chief Rodolfo Llanes in a tweet on Monday morning. He said that the department is looking for "outstanding individuals with a commitment to serve."

“We’re looking for individuals who are capable to fulfill our mission, very professional people, however, a very diverse application pool," according to Bess, who said that the city now has 1,300 officers.

He said that the city has a number of positions that it is looking to fill though it was not immediately known how many positions are available.

Miami police also released a lighthearted video on social media to encourage people to apply for one of the open positions.

Applicants must also be U.S. citizens and be able to pass a physical fitness evaluation with varying requirements based on age and gender.

Those that make it through the process will receive competitive salaries, $2,700 crime prevention pay added to their base salary, a $1,648 FDLE certification bonus upon completion of probation and a four-day day, 10-hour work week among other benefits.
