Miami Springs Senior High School Honors Class of 2020

M-DCPS and Miami Springs Senior High School honor the Class of 2020 to coincide with the school's virtual graduation on June 16.

MIAMI SPRINGS, FL — Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami Springs Senior High School are honoring the Class of 2020 to coincide with the school's virtual graduation on June 16.

The school is highlighting two students below who represent the achievements of the entire graduating class.

Anna Bellas

Anna Bellas has proven her academic success can translate to great things in and out of the classroom. She has been involved in Student Government all four years, serving as the Senior Class President this year. Anna is also the President of the National Honor Society and a member of her school's student health organization (HOSA). She was also a member of the track and field, swim and cheer leading teams.

She placed second at HOSA Regionals for Community Awareness. This accomplishment, along with her work with the American Heart Association during their annual walk has brought to light her passion for medicine. She plans to enroll into the United States Naval Academy this Fall on a full $400,000 scholarship. Her ultimate goal is to become a doctor in the United States Navy.

Anna has accomplished all of this, while also maintaining a GPA of 5.08, the highest in her graduating class.


Christopher Emanuel

Christopher Emanuel loves to act, sing and dance and has written several songs. He is an active member in his church’s band and was responsible for organizing a small pep band at Miami Springs Senior High this past year, which played during special events. In fact, Christopher not only sings but can play multiple instruments.

He enjoys drama and had leading roles in the school’s productions of "Aladdin" and "Fidler on the Roof". Christopher has always been an focal point in “Frolics,” the school’s annual talent show.

In addition, he is part of Miami-Dade County's Project Upstart program.

He has been unaccompanied for a year and couch surfed for a while until he recently found more stable housing. Christopher has been described by many as a well-liked student respected by teachers and peers alike.

He will attending Miami Dade College in the Fall.

In an effort to ensure that the Class of 2020 graduates at Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) receive the pomp and circumstance they deserve, the District is holding virtual graduation ceremonies for each high school. The live streaming of each virtual graduation, as well as a schedule of ceremonies and a video archive can be accessed by visiting Classof2020.dadeschools.net. The ceremonies are also televised on WLRN Channel 17.

The virtual commencement ceremonies will be followed by an in-person Class of 2020 celebration at each high school either in the summer or winter, once it is safe to do so under public health guidelines.

In addition to the virtual ceremonies, the District has launched a marketing campaign to highlight outstanding seniors, and invite the community to celebrate graduates on social media using the following hashtags: #MDCPSGrad, #Classof2020, #MeetMDCPSGrads and #SeniorSpotlight.
