Miami Trump Protesters Snarl Evening Traffic
Protests broke out hours after Friday's inauguration.

MIAMI — Hours after Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, a group of anti-Trump protesters took to city streets and highways in protest.
City police asked motorists to avoid downtown Miami and Brickell shortly after 730 p.m. Police later said that the protests spilled onto I-95 affecting Northbound traffic from SW 8 St.
Some of the protesters carried signs that said "Dump Trump" and other anti-Trump slogans.

Police said that the protesters had begun to exit I-95 by about 8:20 p.m. along NW 2 Street. From there, they marched north along Biscayne Boulevard affecting southbound traffic.
They then gathered on the steps of AmericanAirlines Arena.

Police that most of the protesters had cleared out by about 9:20 p.m. and all affected roads had reopened.
Police initially said that protesters had also spilled onto I-395, but later said that the protesters were diverted by Florida Highway Patrol before they reached the highway into Miami Beach.

Thousands of anti-Trump protesters took to downtown Miami in the days following the Nov. 8 election, chanting slogans, waving signs and snarling traffic around some of the city's busiest thoroughfares.
