Miami Vape Store Catches Fire

An employee heard a smoke alarm and discovered the fire in a second-floor lounge.

MIAMI, FL — First responders are trying to determine what caused a fire to break out in a downtown vape store on Monday afternoon. The first was contained to a second-floor lounge at the Vapor Life electronic cigarette store, 27 SW 1st Avenue. First responders said the blaze was under control in about 20 minutes.

Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue told Patch that the fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m. (Sign up for our free Daily Newsletters and Breaking News Alerts for the Miami Patch.)

"Fire Crews arrived to the Vapor Life electronic cigarette store to find smoke showing on the first floor," Carroll said. "According to an employee, she heard the smoke alarm ringing and found a fire on the second-floor lounge."

Carroll said that the employee tried to put out the fire with two fire extinguishers on the premises "but the fire grew out of control and forced her to evacuate."

No injuries were reported.

"At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation," Carroll added. "Businesses adjacent to the store were not affected by the fire."
