Miami 'Waves' Admission To Grapeland Water Park This Weekend

With many Miamians still without power, the city is waiving the entrance fee to Grapeland Water Park for residents and city employees.

MIAMI, FL — This weekend, the city of Miami will be "waving" its entrance fee to Grapeland Water Park for all residents and city employees in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Bring proof of residence or an employee ID. The park features water slides, water canons, a lazy river and plenty of waves.

Many Miamians still don't have power, which means that they probably don't have air-conditioning unless they have a powerful home generator. Grapeland is limited to 1,200 people. Shipwreck Island
Shipwreck Island is an adventurous area designed for children and toddlers under the height of 48 Inches. Equipped with two fast paced slides, a shallow water play area, water shooting cannons, splash fountains and Buccaneer Falls – which at the sound of the horn unleashes a wave of water that leaves both children and adults clamoring for more! For children who are not comfortable with water activities, there are Free Life Vests and Swim Diapers are available for purchase for toddlers.

Pirate's Plunge
Pirates Plunge is an ideal water play area for children 48 Inches and taller. Taking the steps to the top of the pirates’ deck, there are three slides where children and adults can take a fast paced plunge while going through pulse raging turns on their plunge down to the bottom. Water shooting cannons and splash fountains surround the inner and outer shallow water play area along with two low rise slides for those who are not seeking the thrill of our three larger slides. At the sound of the horn, children can gather under Black Beard’s Springs and be dowsed with a fury of water that will leave children thirsty for another drenching! Pirates Plunge is the perfect area for families who are looking to enjoy a fun filled day! For children and adults both SWIMMERS and NON – SWIMMERS, Free Life Vests are available at various access points inside the water park.

Captain's Lagoon
Over at Captains Lagoon families can take it down a notch and hang out in this large heated recreation pool. Captains Lagoon offers a deep and shallow water area and serves as just the perfect place to take a dip and play. *There is a high requirement for Life Vests in this area

Buccaneer River Ride
For those who are seeking a more calm and relaxed area of the Water Park, Buccaneer River Ride is for you! Just simply hop into one of our many inflatable tubes, lay back and let the water be your guide. Float around the Lazy River for a cool trip through Buccaneer River but don’t think you are going to avoid getting wet. Water Sprayers and Fountains drape around Buccaneer River and will definitely provide a splash while you relax. *Children 42 inches and smaller are required to have on a Life Vest
