Military Flare Found By Water In FL Keys: Monroe County Sheriff

A military flare was removed from the beach in the Florida Keys, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

FLORIDA KEYS — A military flare was found Saturday near the water's edge in the Florida Keys. It was found near mile marker 83, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Members of the MCSO bomb squad removed the flare from the beach.

"If you find a piece of military hardware or anything that looks similar, please call 911 and do not attempt to handle it yourself," the agency said.
