Mother Charged With Murdering Her 2 Children In South FL: Police

MIAMI, FL — A Miami mother has been charged with murdering her two children, a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, Tuesday night, according to a Miami police news release.

After a woman continuously called 911 without ever saying why she was calling, officers responded to an apartment in the 100 block of N.E. 75th Street around 8 p.m.

At the apartment, officers met with a woman — later identified as Odette Lysse Joassaint, 41 — who they said seemed to be “irrational.”

Joassaint told police, “Come get them. I don’t want them anymore.”

In the bedroom, officers found two unresponsive young children lying in bed with their arms, legs and neck tied, according to the arrest affidavit. The officers immediately untied the bound children and tried to resuscitate them while waiting for Miami Fire Rescue to arrive.

Miami Fire Rescue pronounced both children, a 3-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, dead at the scene.

Joassaint was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
