Person Shot, 50 Evacuated In 3-Alarm Miami Fire: Reports
A person was found with a gunshot wound in a Miami apartment building, where crews are battling a three-alarm fire that has displaced 50.

MIAMI, FL — A person was found shot in the chest Monday in a 3rd Street apartment building where crews were responding to a three-alarm blaze that has forced the evacuation of more than 50 residents, WSVN reported.
Fire officials saw heavy flames and smoke coming from a third-floor window upon arrival, CBS Miami reported.
"Our focus was trying to get everybody out as well as try to contain the fire," Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll told CBS News.

Miami Police tweeted and urged residents to stay away from the Lumus Park area due to a "nearby apartment fire."

Police said around 10 a.m. that officers and firefighters were on scene responding to the fire.

WSVN said crews have been tending to the blaze for at least two hours.
“We arrived on the scene, we found that one person has been shot, that person has been transported to (Jackson Memorial Hospital),” Miami Mayor Francis Suarez told WSVN. “At the same time, our firefighters responded to this fire and saw that this fire was escalating in intensity. They rescued several people, including some people that were rescued from their balconies.”
U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar said her office is monitoring the fire near the Miami River.
"Very thankful for the firefighters at the City of Miami Fire Department who are working hard to put out the fire and rescue residents inside," she said in a Facebook post.
