Publix Shooting Leaves 2 Dead, Plus Shooter, In South FL: Sheriff

ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL — Two people, as well as a shooter, are dead following a midday shooting inside a South Florida Publix, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

The shooting took place at the Royal Palm Beach Publix at 1180 Royal Palm Beach Blvd. The sheriff’s office stressed that there is no active shooter situation.

When deputies arrived at the grocery store, they found three people dead from gunshot wounds: a man, a woman and a child. The shooter was among those dead, the sheriff’s office said.

Palm Beach County Commissioner Melissa McKinlay told WPTV the dead child is a toddler.

"This one is hard. You don't like to hear about these things in your district. You don't like to hear about them anywhere in the country," McKinlay said.

Detectives from the PBCSO’s Violent Crimes Division are at the store investigating the shooting, which was reported about 11:40 a.m.

They’re still in the beginning stages of the investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available, the sheriff’s office said.
