Rapper Sean Kingston To Be Extradited To Face FL Fraud, Theft Charges

The "Beautiful Girls" singer and his mother are accused of stealing money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade and furniture, per media reports.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Famed musician Sean Kingston will soon be extradited from California to South Florida, where he and his 61-year-old mother are being accused of fraud and theft totaling $1 million, per media reports.

Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, waived his right to fight extradition Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

San Bernardino County (California) Jail records show he was arrested Thursday at Fort Irwin Road in southern California and remained incarcerated Wednesday. Jail records show he is currently ineligible for bail.

The 34-year-old singer-rapper and his mother, Janice Turner, are accused of stealing money, jewelry, a Cadillac Escalade and furniture, the Associated Press reported. Turner was arrested Thursday during a raid at Kingston's rented Fort Lauderdale mansion, the outlet reported.

"(Broward County) warrants in the case say that from October to March they stole almost $500,000 in jewelry, more than $200,000 from Bank of America, $160,000 from the Escalade dealer, more than $100,000 from First Republic Bank, $86,000 from the maker of customized beds. Specifics were not given," the Associated Press reported.

In Florida, Kingston is being charged on suspicion of the following charges, per Entertainment Weekly:

  • One count of organized scheme to defraud
  • Four counts of criminal use of personal identification information
  • Two counts of grand theft greater than $100,000
  • One count of grand theft greater than $20,000
  • One count of fraud
  • Violating his two-year probation period for trafficking stolen property

Meanwhile, Turner is being charged on suspicion of the following charges, per Entertainment Weekly:

  • One count of organized scheme to defraud
  • Three counts of criminal use of personal identification information
  • Two counts of grand theft over $100,000
  • One count of grand theft over $20,000
  • One count of fraud

Turner previously served more than a year in prison in 2006 after pleading guilty to bank fraud, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Kingston is best known for hits "Take You There" and "Beautiful Girls;" the latter sat at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for four weeks after peaking on Aug. 11, 2007.
