Six Florida Hospitals Ranks Among World's Best, Newsweek Says

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Six Florida hospitals were recently included in a new list from Newsweek magazine identifying the best hospitals in the world.

The magazine's "World's Best Hospitals 2019" list was created in partnership with Statista, a global market research and consumer data company. According to Newsweek, 1,000 hospitals from around the globe were selected for recognition "based on recommendations from medical professionals, patient survey results and medical performance indicators."

More than 200 U.S. hospitals made Newsweek's 2019 list.

The Florida hospitals on the list are:

• Mayo Clinic - Jacksonville, Jacksonville, ranked No. 42 in the U.S.
• Cleveland Clinic Florida, Weston, ranked No. 73 in the U.S.
• Holy Cross Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, ranked No. 113 in the U.S.
• Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, ranked No. 118 in the U.S.
• Baptist Hospital Of Miami, Miami, ranked No. 166 in the U.S.
• Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, ranked No. 194 in the U.S.

Among the top 10 hospitals in the world, four were in the United States. The American hospitals that made the top 10 are:

• Mayo Clinic-Rochester; Rochester, Minnesota (1)
• Cleveland Clinic; Cleveland, Ohio (2)
• The Johns Hopkins Hospitals; Baltimore, Maryland (4)
• Massachusetts General Hospital; Boston, Massachusetts (6)

In addition to the global rankings, which ranked the top 10 hospitals in the world and listed 90 other hospitals in alphabetical order, Newsweek also ranked the best hospitals by country. The magazine said the scores given to each hospital are only comparable to hospitals in the same country.

A common trait for the hospitals on the list was that they are leaders at adapting to the changes in health care while providing excellent patient care, the magazine said.

Newsweek's rankings list the best hospitals in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Israel.
