MIAMI, FL — Thanksgiving is shaping up around Miami and the rest of Florida as a great day to watch football and eat turkey, according to the National Weather Service.

"Low pressure and associated front will move northeast across the Florida peninsula producing unsettled weather today into Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will be increasing through the day with some becoming strong to severe," forecasters said. "Although Storm Prediction Center has northern counties under a marginal risk of severe weather, an isolated severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out over the southern counties."

Thanksgiving Day

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 5 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday November 24

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4 p.m., then a slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Light southwest wind becoming south 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Saturday November 25

Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Sunday November 26

Sunny, with a high near 78. North wind 7 to 13 mph.

Monday November 27

A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Northeast wind 8 to 11 mph.
