Still Time To Take Home One-Of-A-Kind Super Bowl Memento

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Super Bowl LIV is already in the history books, but there's still time to take home a one-of-a-kind memento from the big game.
The bidding is underway on two of the resort city's iconic lifeguard towers that were painted in the team colors of the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers days before Super Bowl LIV at Hard Rock Stadium. See also Celebrity-Studded Super Bowl 2020 Pictures
"We intentionally gave them those paint colors for the big game," said the city's Melissa Berthier.

Miami Beach lifeguard stands were symbols of the city well before the Super Bowl paint job. They have been captured in endless selfies, Hollywood blockbusters and, of course, the popular "Miami Vice" television show that ignited a decades-long wave of tourism.
The retired Miami Beach towers hit the auction block Jan. 29. In the past, towers have sold for as little as $150 and as much as $3,050.

The NFL-themed towers were placed in South Beach during the Super Bowl hoopla in South Beach.
Not to pile on the disappointment for 49ers fans, but their team's lifeguard tower was selling for a mere $660 as of Tuesday compared with the Chiefs tower.
The Chiefs tower had a high bid of $2,576. Bidding was to continue through Saturday but may be extended.
"The sale of all surplus property is as-is and where-is, without warranty," according to the auction website where the towers have been posted.
"No service of any kind will be furnished by the city of Miami Beach," the website cautioned, "and the successful bidder shall assume any cost of weighing, packaging, crating, loading or hauling, unless otherwise indicated."
