Tour Boat Crash Injures Dozens In Miami: Reports

Nearly 30 people were hurt after a tour boat collided with another vessel near the Port of Miami Sunday afternoon, reports said.

MIAMI, FL — Dozens of people were hurt after a tour boat collided with another vessel near the Port of Miami Sunday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

Nearly 30 were injured when the Thriller 06 tour boat hit another boat near Fisherman’s Channel, WFTV reported.

The crash with a speedboat happened around 3:15 p.m., just a few minutes after the tour took off, a passenger told WSVN.

“Probably about five minutes in, we started the actual speeding part. Next thing I knew, all of a sudden, there was a big impact,” he said, adding, “I saw a bunch of people on the left side of the boat just flying out of their seats. One woman, she landed right by my feet and she was unconscious, bleeding from her head. I was able to hear the blood in her lungs as she was breathing.”

"We usually don’t have accidents but yes, tour boats are always going through Fisherman's Cut and Government Cut," Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Division Chief Horacio Rodriguez told NBC6 South Florida.

More than 30 fire rescue units, as well as city of Miami Fire, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers, and the U.S. Coast Guard responded to the crash, reports said.

The Thriller 06, a 55-foot speed boat, operates out of Bayside Marketplace and can hold up to 36 passengers, the company’s website said.
