Free Mobile Veterinary Care Coming to Miami Beach (miamibeachfl.gov) — Free mobile veterinary care is coming to Flamingo Park in Miami Beach from Sept. 28 through Dec. 23, offering no-cost vaccines, microchips and flea prevention for local dogs and cats. The WOW Mobile will operate Monday through Wednesday, and city leaders urge Miami Beach pet owners to take advantage of the walk-in services.
2. Miami Beach approves new rules for e-bike and scooter use (nbcmiami.com) — New safety rules for e-bikes, scooters, and bicycles in Miami Beach will take effect July 22, 2027, including mandatory helmets for riders under 16 and required lights at night. Violations will carry a $129 fine, and officials say the ordinance gives police and park rangers clearer authority to keep streets, sidewalks, and the Beachwalk safer for residents and visitors.
3. South Florida remembers Oct. 7 attack: Find memorial events, candle lightings & more (sun-sentinel.com) — Miami Beach residents can join a free Oct. 7 remembrance at the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, where names of victims will be read and candles lit. Additional South Florida events in North Miami Beach, West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Pinecrest offer performances, memorials and discussions reflecting on the attack's impact and rising antisemitism.
4. What happens when police stop a driverless car? Inside a Waymo training for first responders (nbcmiami.com) — Waymo's driverless cars are already traveling between Miami Beach and Miami, and local police and firefighters are training on how to safely access and disable them during emergencies. The company says it has trained thousands of first responders in South Florida, while crash data and new studies suggest its autonomous vehicles may be involved in fewer accidents than human drivers.
