Bus Hit by Stolen Car in South Beach

MIAMI BEACH — A man was taken into custody on Sunday evening after crashing a stolen car into a bus at 7 Street and Washington Avenue in South Beach.

The accident occurred as the man attempted to elude police at 5:20 p.m., according to police.

Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department told Patch that police tried to stop the car after it was identified as stolen through a scan of the license plate.

"The vehicle struck a bus located at 7 Street and Washington Avenue," Rodriguez said. "The driver then fled the scene on foot."

The suspect was taken into custody near 8 Street and Washington Avenue.

"The crash involved the bus, the subject vehicle and at least one other vehicle," Rodriguez said, adding that two females were were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
