Fisherman, 2 Others Killed in Bizarre Accident

Florida Highway Patrol did not know what caused the driver of a Suzuki motorcycle to lose control and rear-end a scooter on State Road 195.

MIAMI, FL — Three people were killed on Tuesday, including a man who was fishing off the east bridge of State road 195. Police said the bizarre accident occurred when a motorcyclist lost control of his 2005 Suzuki and slammed into the rear of a scooter before careening into the fisherman who was fishing off the south shoulder.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene while the fisherman was taken to Ryder Trauma Center of Jackson memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Lt. Police were withholding the name of the motorcycle driver pending notification of his next of kin. They said that the 32-year-0ld Miami Beach resident was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the 2016 Riya scooter was identified as 24-year-old Erik Andrew Lau of Hialeah while the fisherman was identified as 30-year-old Daryl Jerome Williams of Miami Gardens.

The Suzuki was traveling east on State Road 195 in the outside lane when it rear-ended the scooter, which was also heading east in the outside lane just ahead of the motorcycle.

The accident occurred at 4:29 a.m.

Police said they did not know what caused the motorcycle to strike the scooter. Both drivers were thrown from their vehicles.

The motorcycle also struck a 2014 Nissan Altima that was parked along the shoulder of the bridge.
