Miami Beach Makes List Of 'Perfect' Thanksgiving Getaways

MIAMI BEACH, FL — U.S. News and World Report selected Miami Beach as one of the magazine's "30 perfect alternative getaways for Thanksgiving." The article, which was published earlier this week, suggested that readers spend the long turkey weekend "catching up on R & R by the pool, the beach or at top shopping meccas" around the Miami area.

The article also praised the Miami area's quick recovery.

"Thanks to swift recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma, major hotels, resorts, museums, nightlife venues and shops are open for business," the magazine penned.

"Whether you want to check out striking art deco buildings on Ocean Drive, rent a beach chair on South Beach or simply stay put in a cabana at your hotel, there are plenty of ways to unwind and dodge the holiday routine (and countless hours of meal prep)," according to the publication.

"What's more, you can embrace an American feast and celebrate the holiday at acclaimed restaurants without lifting a finger," editors noted.

Other cities on the list included Florence, Amsterdam and London.
