Miami Firefighters Battle Fire in Metal Pile
The blaze erupted outside Paz Metal Transfer

MIAMI — Heavy smoke could be seen for miles on Wednesday afternoon as fire broke out in a large metal pile at 1325 NW 21st Street.
Miami Fire Rescue responded to Paz Metal Transfer shortly before 1:30 p.m.
"Miami firefighters arrived to find a large pile of metal on fire near the storage building," explained Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue. "According to an employee, he was using heavy machinery to flatten the metal pile when he heard something pop then saw smoke and flames."

Carroll said that first responders responded to a call of heavy flames and black smoke coming from the building. It took them about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
"Employees were evacuated from the area and firefighters had control of the fire within 20 minutes," he said, adding that there were no injuries or damage to the office building.

The cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined.
