Swimmer Dies After Being Pulled From Rough Water
Four other swimmers were also caught in the rough water off of 43 Street and the beach.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Five swimmers were caught in rough water on Friday night and one later died after being rescued by a Good Samaritan. The incident occurred about 7:30 p.m at 43 Street and the beach.
"At approximately 7:30 p.m. we received a 9-1-1 call indicating several swimmers were in distress at 43 Street and the beach," Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department told Patch. He said that two women managed to swim to shore as did a third male victim "with more difficulty." That victim was subsequently taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for evaluation, according to Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said that the victim who died was pulled from the water by a good Samaritan with the assistance of first responders from Miami Beach Fire Rescue. He said that first responders performed CPR on the victim and transported him to Mount Sinai Medical Center.

That victim later died from cardiac arrest related to complications due to drowning.
The fifth male victim was pulled onto a Marine Patrol vessel operated by Miami Beach Fire Rescue, according to Rodriguez.
"An MBPD Officer and MBFR entered the water rescuing the other and loaded him onto a Marine Patrol vessel," said Rodriguez. "He was transported by water to Marine Patrol and then transferred to MBFR who transported him to Sinai."
Neither of the women were taken to the hospital.
