On April 23rd,
Pat Mulieri and three Pasco County Commissioners (Katherine Starkey, Henry
Wilson, Ted Schrader) and were successful in outlawing the sale of cats and
dogs at flea markets. Ms. Mulieri
believes that Americans make purchases of dogs and cats impulsively and this
leads to overcrowding at the animal shelter.
She partially relied on the testimony of an animal activist from
Pinellas County, Margaret Weaver.
However, Joseph Gardiner, Gloria Harding and her husband who all are
breeders, gave very convincing testimony of lies and misrepresentation from
representatives of Pasco County when their breeding operations were
inspected. Katherine Starkey asked, “How do we know that dogs coming to the shelter are from
flea market sales?” to a Pasco County official. He answered he did not know. Furthermore, testimony from the owner of USA
Flea Market confirmed that she polices her vendors who sell animals at her flea
market, and makes sure they have licenses if they sell on her property. Freedom fighter Jack Mariano battled well
against the poor reasoning put forth by Mulieri and Starkey. Pat Mulieri has a personal crusade to steal away our individual rights to protect animals
from ourselves and from an impulsive purchase of an animal at a flea market. While her animal rights position seems
appealing, she uses her powers as a county commissioner to outlaw an American’s
right to make a living without any evidence to support her decision; she is
acting like Michael Bloomberg who tries to save us from ourselves. Call your county commissioner tell them we
want free markets in America without government interference. And support freedom
fighter Jack Mariano for his defense of our constitutional rights.
