SPRING HILL, FL — An Amazon driver stole a French bulldog while delivering packages in Spring Hill days ahead of Christmas, according to a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies responded to a home on Copper Hill Drive on Dec. 23 to investigate the theft of the dog, Kali.
Her owner told deputies that she let the bulldog out around 9:15 a.m. on Dec. 22 and noticed a short time later that Kali had escaped from the home’s fenced-in backyard.

A neighbor told the owner that he saw Kali walk up to the car of a man in an Amazon uniform who had just delivered a package to an address on that street, the sheriff’s office said.
He briefly interacted with Kali, who followed his car as he drove off. Another neighbor saw him stop his car nearby on Larkenheath Drive, pick up the dog and put her in his backseat before driving off, HCSO said.

Kali’s owner came outside looking for her just as he drove away.
Using the information provided by her neighbors, the dog’s owner initially contacted Amazon customer support to report the incident. An Amazon representative told her to report the incident to law enforcement.
Kali’s owner gave deputies a photo and a detailed description of the dog, who is a year old and has a retail value of $4,000.
Detectives were able to obtain information on the Amazon driver, Reinier Revilla, 34, on Jan. 16.
When investigators interviewed Revilla at his Tampa home, he told them that he took Kali and she was still in his possession. She was recovered from a nearby home and returned to her owner that day.
The next day, detectives got a warrant for Revilla’s arrest on a charge of grand theft. When they called to tell him about the active arrest warrant, he said he would turn himself in.
He turned himself in at the Hillsborough County Jail on Jan. 19 and was later released on a $5,000 bond.
