Bites Nearby: Sugardarlings Cones & Cupcakes

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant or bakery sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, New Port Richey Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Prices: $1.50 per cupcake, $1 per dozen cupcakes or more, if ordered in advance. Ice cream sold by the scoop, pint or quart.

In her small store in Wood Trail Plaza, Jessica Beebe bakes cupcakes and ice cream made with sugar, spice and love.   

Cupcakes at Sugardarlings come in a wide variety of tantalizing flavors. These include: Luscious Lemon, Crazy Creamy Cappuccino, Coconut Fudge Yummy, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Gingerbread, Pina Colada, Mudslide, Green Tea Peach, Cinnamon Sweetness, Key Lime and Black & Whites. 

The top five bestsellers are: Ridiculously Resisting Red Velvet, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cannoli, S’mores and Blueberry Lemon, Beebe's personal favorite.

“Customers get addicted to the flavors and keep coming back to try more, but I do love when they suggest new recipes to me,” Beebe said.  “I tell them, ‘If you can come up with it, I can bake it!'”

Sugardarlings caters special occasions – weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, graduations, corporate events – and donates products and gift certificates to churches, schools and other nonprofits throughout the community.

Sugardarlings, which celebrates its first anniversary next week, also hosts childrens' art shows, and the store's walls are adorned with paintings and colorings from New Port Richey and Trinity students. 

“I love the community here – it truly feels like family,” Beebe said.  “On the business side, I have formed partnerships – and friendships – with local florists, jewelry stores, hair salons, and more so we can focus on strengthening our brands together.”
