Chasco Pageant Recognizes Personality and Beauty
The 2011 Chasco Pageant was held at the Quality Inn Suites in Port Richey. The pageant helped with more than one charity and foundation in the community.
The Chasco Fiesta Children's Pageant was a great opportunity to see some of the area's girls and young women put their personalities and remarkable outfits on display.
The contest, open to girls two months of age and older, was held on Saturday at the Quality Inn Suites in Port Richey, where the bright smiles of the contestants lit up a dark room.
Barbara Adkins, from Land O’Lakes, was named the winner of the 2011 Miss New Port Richey title. This is the first year a Miss New Port Richey has been named. Adkins, 34, had been named Miss Weeki Wachee two weeks prior to this event, as well as Miss Wesley Chapel!

The judges based their decisions mostly upon "personality," said Pageant Director Stephanie Sims, who has conducted the pageant for the six years now. The contestants submitted a list of their favorite things to do, schools they attended and goals for their life in the near and far future.
Some of the contestants' favorite things to do were going to the beach and doing things with their families. Their goals ranged from graduating high school to staying family-oriented.
Most of the contestants' favorite part of the pageant was being able to “dress up” and “getting pictures taken.” Some other girls, like Videl, entered for the first time in a pageant so the experience alone was fun for them.
The pageant is a fundraiser for the Chasco Fiesta, as well as, “Locks of Love,” which helps children who have lost their hair to cancer or other illnesses.
These fundraisers not only help the community and the people who live in it, but also help keep the tradition of the Chasco Fiesta stay lively.
