Coast Guard Suspends Search For Boater Missing Near Port Richey

PORT RICHEY, FL — The U.S. Coast Guard on Wednesday suspended its search for a man who was reported missing after he launched his boat from Nicks Park in Port Richey on Sunday morning.

In a statement on Facebook, Coast Guard officials said crews searched more than 1,500 square miles over three days after 57-year-old Andre Nolasco was reported missing.

"We offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to Andre Nolasco's loved ones, "Lt. Carleigh Long said in a statement. "The decision to suspend a search is always difficult and never done lightly."

According to officials, Nolasco's girlfriend reported him missing around noon Monday after he didn't return home. Officials said that Coast Guard crews located his boat about 8 miles west of Hudson with no one aboard.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office and Pasco County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search for Nolasco.
