Commercial Vehicle Hits Pedestrian On I-75 Overpass: FL Highway Patrol

A man was hit by a commercial vehicle while walking along an Interstate 75 overpass in Pasco County Tuesday, FL Highway Patrol said.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A man was hit by a commercial vehicle while walking along an Interstate 75 overpass in Pasco County Tuesday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The pedestrian, a 42-year-old Live Oak man, was walking on the interstate’s northbound overpass at State Road 54 around 2:15 p.m.

He walked into the travel lanes from the outside shoulder “for unknown reasons” and was hit in the outside lane by a Sterling commercial vehicle driven by a 48-year-old Tampa man, FHP said.

The pedestrian was airlifted to an area hospital and is in critical, but stable, condition.
