Curious George Helps Promote Bike Safety and Healthy Habits

~ Bike Day event offers active, outdoor fun for young children and their families ~

NEW PORT RICHEY – Come join everyone’s favorite monkey at this year’s Curious George Bike Day, a special bicycle riding event specifically aimed for preschoolers, being held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park.

This free event encourages three to six year olds and their families to get outdoors, get active and to enjoy their local parks. The event is geared for pre-school aged children to bring their tricycle, bicycle or big wheel to ride at the park with Curious George on site. Free bicycle helmets will be handed out while quantities last.

Other activities at the event include: a bicycle rodeo, healthy recipe demonstrations, photo opportunities, free books, inflatable games, hayrides, crafts and more. Also, a special performance by national children’s entertainer, Silly Sam the Music Man!

Many local businesses and organizations have teamed up with the Pasco County Parks and Recreation Department in order to provide this event encouraging healthy, active, outdoor fun.

“This is a fun way for preschoolers to learn about healthy habits and bicycle safety” said Martha Campbell, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director. “It is also a great opportunity for young ones to get some exercise outdoors and experience the wilderness park with their families.”
