Driver Dies After Crashing Stolen SUV: FL Highway Patrol
A Dade City man died after crashing an SUV he stole from the site of another collision Tuesday on State Road 50, FL Highway Patrol said.
HERNANDO COUNTY, FL — A man died after crashing an SUV he stole from the site of another collision Tuesday night on State Road 50, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Troopers responded to Kettering Road around 8:30 p.m. after a 29-year-old Dade City man lost control of his pickup truck and hit the median.
When a 35-year-old Webster woman driving by stopped to help the man, another 29-year-old Dade City man arrived on foot and stole her SUV, FHP said.

While driving west on State Road 50, the thief, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, crossed the center median and collided head-on with a tractor trailer truck just west of Hartness Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck’s driver, a 45-year-old Plant City man, suffered minor injuries.
