Founded in 1985, this parade is celebrates the birthday of the slain civil-rights leader in a monumental fashion, with marching bands, beads, floats, and other fun. Organizers call it "the largest diversity event in the U.S."
This year's grand marshall is TV and film actor Clifton Davis ("Amen," "That's My Mama," and "Any Given Sunday").
From its starting point at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South and 3rd Avenue South, the parade heads north to Central Avenue. It then turns east and proceeds to Bayshore Drive before heading north to 5th Avenue North. It turns east and proceeds to Vinoy Park, where it disbands.
