Firefighters Rescue Pups Trapped In Blaze

No people were home when the apartment fire broke out in New Port Richey Friday.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — New Port Richey firefighters called out to a blaze at a Kentucky Avenue apartment Friday evening found no people inside the burning building, but did have to swing into action to save a pack of pups.

According to the agency, firefighters found five dogs inside the affected home. All of them suffered effects from smoke and had to receive some tender, loving care from firefighters Rustin Hammes and Alex Hardman. The two administered oxygen on the scene.

While the dogs were in distress at first, they were all up and moving around by the end of the call, the department said. As far as it’s known, the animals all are in good shape now thanks to the quick rescue.
