A Gulf High School math teacher was charged with driving under the influence August 31 after a concerned motorist tipped off Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies.
The tipster said a vehicle was failing to stay in its lane on Plathe Road.
According to a Pasco County complaint affidavit, Crystal Blatchley, 39, was pulled over around 9:30 p.m. for failing to maintain a single lane. Deputy Scott Schuck said in the affidavit that Blatchley had visible signs of impairment, including glassy eyes, constructed pupils and slurred speech. He asked her to perform a field sobriety test. She “performed poorly,” he wrote.

Although breath test results were .000/.000, Blatchley was charged with driving under the influence. A urine sample was taken for further testing, the affidavit said.
Blatchley has been a teacher at Gulf since 2010-11, according to the school's website. She was released from the Land O' Lakes Jail on her own recognizance.
