Mezzaluna: A Quaint Bistro That Will Make You Think You’re In Italy
Visit Mezzaluna for the pizza and the decor.
Late last month, we entered through the outdoor patio to escape the hectic Chasco Fiesta going on all around us and went inside.
Mezzaluna’s décor is designed to make you feel like you’re in Italy at a quaint little bistro. Nothing is overdone to spoil the feeling.
Service is friendly and attentive. The waitresses are well-versed in the menu, willing to make suggestions and accepting of special requests.

Bypassing the mundane fried mozzarella appetizer, we ordered the toasted ravioli, which proved to be an excellent choice. Our salads were fresh, comprised of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. The antipasto was made like an Italian version of a chef salad. I found both the chicken piccata and the chicken francese a bit too lemony and heavy with garlic, but the chicken parmesan was wonderful, served with the house pomodoro sauce and a side of ziti. Garlic bread is included.
I had to try the pizza. I saw them delivering deep-dish pizzas, but, being fond of thin-crust, asked the waitress if they could make mine that way. She returned later to tell me that she saw the chef stretching the dough, so she thought my request was being accommodated. It was, and it was delicious. A thin-crust, pan pizza oozing with heaps of mozzarella, wonderful sauce and excellent sausage made my day.
