New Port Richey Man Accused Of Reckless Driving While Drunk

A 24-year-old New Port Richey man is facing multiple charges after deputies said he drove recklessly while under the influence.

HOLIDAY, FL — A 24-year-old New Port Richey man is facing multiple charges after Pasco County Sheriff's deputies said he drove recklessly while under the influence and tried to elude deputies.

According to deputies, on Sunday Robert Adrian Yost of Vermont Avenue was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck south on U.S. 19 near the intersection of Mile Stretch Boulevard when a deputy activated his vehicle's lights and siren and tried to pull him over.

The sheriff's office said Yost fled at a high speed, drove through a red light, drove over a concrete median and several concrete barriers before crashing the pickup truck. He then fled on foot.

When deputies apprehended him, they said he had trouble standing up straight, was slurring his words, had bloodshot, watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

Deputies said Yost refused a field sobriety test and a blood-alcohol content analysis.

He was charged with resisting an officer without violence, fleeing to elude police with disregard for safety, driving without a valid license, reckless driving and refusal to submit to DUI tests.

He's being held on a $20,000 bond.
