Pasco County Tax Collector Staff, Families and Volunteers Hoist the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk's Version of the "Stanley Cup"

Like hockey's "Stanley Cup" the Pasco Tax Collector's Office has taken possession of the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk's "1st Place" trophy.

Much like professional hockey’s “Stanley Cup,” which resides with the winning team for one year, the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office (Team Tax Collector) has taken possession of the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk’s “1st Place Team” trophy. The exchange of the trophy was made at the end of the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk’s campaign on March 14. The award goes to the individual team which recruits not only the most walkers but raises the most money. A total of 61 teams participated in this year’s event. The trophy will be on display in each of the five tax collector offices throughout the coming year.

“I applaud the members of Team Tax Collector for their commitment to fight hunger and to participate in the Chasco Fiesta Hunger Walk,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “Team Tax Collector had 38 individuals sign up to be a part of what was a fun and rewarding event. One Community Now, the non-profit organization which benefits from the funds raised by all the individuals and organizations who gave so freely of their time, will help children and families in our community have food in their homes.”

The Pack-a-Sack 4 Kids Program is the keystone of the food relief efforts of One Community Now. Children who live in danger of not having food on their dining room table are given a backpack full of healthy meals each Friday to ensure that they have meals for the weekend. The empty backpack is returned Monday, to be refilled for the following weekend.
