Pasco Fire Responds To Storm Damage, 3 Fires

Strong winds pulled the roof off of a condo building, causing major damage to the unit below.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — It proved to be a busy day Wednesday for Pasco County Fire Rescue.

Firefighters were called to the scene of storm damage in the 9200 block of Villa Entrada Drive in New Port Richey Wednesday. Strong winds pulled the roof off of a condo building, causing major damage to the unit below. Two residents were displaced from their home, but no injuries are reported.

Pasco County Fire Rescue was also called to the scene of a travel trailer fire in the 12000 block of Price Lane in Land O' Lakes Wednesday. Firefighters searched the residence and located a wheelchair-bound resident inside. The resident was taken to Tampa General Hospital by helicopter. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Later that night, a mobile home caught fire in the 3800 block of Galt Street in New Port Richey. Firefighters reported a large column of smoke from a distance and found the mobile home full involved. Firefighters knocked down the fire, and there are no injuries reported.

In the early-morning hours, firefighters were also called to the Waters Edge RV Resort in Zephyrhills for a double-wide RV fire. Firefighters reported heavy involvement upon arrival. One dog died in the fire. No other injuries were reported. The American Red Cross responded to assist two adult residents. The cause was listed as a grease fire from cooking.
