If you plan on getting tested:

  • Please stay home until you get your test results. Maintain social distance, wear a mask and sanitize your home frequently to protect others in your home.
  • Please be patient; labs across the United States are experiencing a high volume of samples, and the time between your test and when you receive your results may take up to 10 days.
  • You will be told what the average wait time for your lab is during your visit. It is possible that it will take longer, depending on the number of samples the lab is currently processing.
  • Please do not go to a different sample site and get tested again while waiting for your results.
  • Getting multiple tests will further tax laboratories and make it take longer for you and others to get their results.
  • Please start thinking about where you have been and who you have seen during the two days before your symptoms started (or in the two days before your test date if you have no symptoms).
  • If you have a positive result, it is important for a public health epidemiologist to contact you. Please be on the alert for a call from the Pasco health department. Answer calls from unknown numbers after you are tested and make sure to check your messages. (Make sure your voicemail is not full.)
  • A caller from the health department will identify him or herself and ask you for identifying information, such as your birthdate. They will never ask for your Social Security number.
  • Your information will be kept confidential. All the information you give the health department is protected by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).

During the call:

  • You will speak with someone to determine your isolation end date and how to isolate
  • within your home.
  • You will be asked some basic information about you and your health.
  • You will be asked who you have been within 6 feet of for 15 minutes or more during
  • the two days before your symptoms started (or test date if you have no symptoms) and
  • until you received your results.
  • The epidemiologist will contact these people to let them know their quarantine dates and
  • how to quarantine within their home. No one will use your name or any identifying information without your express permission.
