Pasco County Tax Collector Mike Fasano announces that the Florida Heart Research Foundation is the beneficiary of 29 new specialty tags sold and close to $1,000 in cash raised during the tax collector’s charitable organization of the month campaign. During the month of July the funds were raised due to the hard work of the tax collector’s staff and the generosity of the community.
The Florida Heart Research Foundation is a statewide organization dedicated to both education and research to reduce the incidents of heart attack and related illnesses. Heart disease is the leading cause of death and disability among women in particular. Additionally, the Florida Heart Research Foundation provides scholarships and other cardiovascular training to health professionals and the general public. Overall, the goal of the Florida Heart Research Foundation is to reduce heart disease and help people live healthier lives.
“I wish to thank both the citizens and the members of the Pasco County license plate team for their support of the Stop Heart Disease license plate,” states Nancy Cavalie, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation. “This plate serves two purposes: It helps to support research on heart disease in the State of Florida, and it contributes to public awareness of heart disease, the largest cause of death in the state and in the nation.”

“The community as a whole has stepped forward to support the good efforts of the Florida Heart Research Foundation,” comments Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “It was an honor for our staff to support such a fine organization dedicated to turning back the tide on heart disease and related illnesses. Many forms of heart disease can be avoided or reversed through healthy eating and exercise. Not only does the Foundation help spread the word about prevention, they also dedicate themselves to research, treatment and training the next generation of cardio-vascular specialists. We applaud their efforts.”
