Plywood Scatters Across I-75 In Pasco County After Collision Near-Miss

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A tractor-trailer carrying a load of plywood on Interstate 75 in Pasco County lost its cargo Thursday morning, scattering boards across the roadway as the driver narrowly avoided a collision with another vehicle.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, the driver of the tractor-trailer — a 32-year-old man from Ocala — was headed southbound on I-75 around 6:40 a.m. when police said a Ford truck traveling ahead of the semi slowed down for no known reason.

To avoid a collision, police said the tractor-trailer driver braked and steered left, causing the trailer to rotate and spill its load of plywood.

According to authorities, the plywood struck a guardrail before a piece also hit an Infiniti SUV traveling northbound on the interstate. The SUV was driven by a 38-year-old man from Odessa, police said.

The accident happened near mile marker 290, according to authorities. No one was injured, police said.
